In Memoriam

The above video is a tribute to our deceased classmates as we knew of them on reunion day, September 9, 2023.

We have also established an “EHS Class of 1968” virtual cemetery where you can learn more about some of our classmates who have taken the more eternal path.

Below is a list of our deceased classmates as we know of them through today (we try to keep it up to date). Please let us know of any other classmate information via email at: EHS1968Reunion@gmail.com:

To my class mates who I will forever remember, thank you for the friendships. To my closest friends who I can not replace: Chuck Hoover – Gary Chabina – Terry Schroth, You have made a difference in my life. Death is not the end but the beginning. It is a matter of trusting.
    1 Corinthians 15:55–57
“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I had no idea Shannon Treneer died. Does anyone know where she was living and why she died so young?

    • Hi Nancy… I’m pretty sure Shannon was living in or near Atlanta, Georgia. She died of brain cancer that she had battled for a time. I remember her telling me in school that her grandfather, Maurice Treneer, was credited with inventing Alka-Seltzer.

      • Nancy Yarc Albright says:

Thank you for letting me know. I thought she lived in Atlanta but I wasn’t sure. So sad to hear she passed away.

Whoever is doing this memorial is doing an excellent job, really beautifully done. Thank you for this sad but important work. I’d planned on attending our 45th, but instead helped my mother die and my father get into assisted living at Hubbard Hill. I’ll be at the 50th for sure. Thank you again. Thank you for this memorial page. Sad to see so many of the people that I was aquainted with have passed. I may not be well remember but alot of you are to me. I wish I could have attended but at this time I was celebrating 2 of grandchildrens birthdays. Hopefully I can make the 50th. I know one thing for certain, alot has changed in the last 45 years!! God bless each and every one of you.

  6. Carol (Zilm) Summerour says:

A very sobering moment as I scrolled through our deceased classmates. Jesus compared our life on this earth to a vapor, and when you’re young that doesn’t make any sense. But from where we are now, looking back over the years does appear to be a vapor….here one moment and gone the next. I am so thankful that I know in my heart that the best is yet to come. I pray that all who remain from the great class of EHS 1968 will accept the gift of salvation through God’s only Son Jesus Christ, and one day we’ll have the biggest and best reunion ever!!!

  7. Larry G. Coleman says:

Thank you for this memorial page. It is somewhat sobering to see so many of our classmates have passed on. It brings back a lot of good memories. it has been so long ago yet when the memories come to mind they come alive and it seems like only yesterday. We laugh and we cry then we laugh again. I am in accord with Carol in praying that those that are still alive will accept God’s gift of salvation through his Son Jesus Christ. It is in him that we move, live and have our being. May God continue to bless the remaining class of 1968.

    Excellent job on the Memoriam!
Thank you to all those involved!

Please include my sister Linda Hartman in your memorial. She passed away Nov. 6 2017.

  10. Nicole Gilchrist-Marr says:

Hello, I am seeking out information on Jennifer Lynn Gilchrist who I recently found out was my half-sister. She passed away on July 19, 2020. I never got to meet her. I wrote her but I never knew if she received them. The only picture I know of is her senior picture. I know her mother passed away when she was 17. Our father passed away in 1987. I know she was married but her husband had also passed. That is really all I know about her. If anyone has any info about her, her other family, pictures, I’d be forever grateful. Thank you

    • Sally Reim says:

I just saw that she passed in 2020. Her and I were locker mates in high school and roommates after high school. She was exotic and worldly to me, but there was always a deep sadness. We had some good times together and did some crazy stuff, too. The adventures we had in the 1968 Bonnevile convertible she inherited! I still want a car exactly like it. I met someone and moved away. Tried to rekindle later, but it wasn’t to be.
So sad to hear of her passing. I didn’t know she had a half sibling.

  11. Frank Huffman says:

It is sad to see so many of my classmates gone. I was blessed to have good friends during my high school years. One of my greatest regrets is that I was so shy in sharing my faith in Jesus Christ as my Savior. Jesus said of Himself: “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by Me.” Trusting in Jesus to forgive our sins is the way to eternal life.

Thanks for your reply Sally. Do you know if she has any family from her moms side? I’m sure she didn’t know about me either but I wonder where my letters went because they never came back. I am considerably younnger than her. What you describe sounds like stories I hear about myy own mom back in the day.

      • Sally Reim says:

I don’t know. I think there was an aunt and uncle, but I don’t recall their names and I’m sure they have passed since then.
        Sorry I can’t help more.
